Philips Sonicare Replacement Heads
The babies Sonicare toothbrush has two exclusive toothbrush heads. They are small and regular. The smaller one is aimed at seven year olds and under and the regular is for seven up. The bristles on both brushes are nice and soft. Children who have used this toothbrush said they liked the feel of the bristles and they didn’t hurt their gums at all.
With adults, it is recommended that bristles be replaced every three months but with the babies heads it only needs to be every six months or when the bristles start to fray. When that happens, they become far less effective at cleaning teeth and frayed bristles can actually hurt your child’s mouth.
If your child currently chews their toothbrush then you might want to consider waiting a while before you buy one. The heads are not cheap to replace. It might be worth teaching them to stop chewing bristles on a regular manual toothbrush before you switch. Having said that, some users said that after buying the Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush, their offspring stopped chewing the heads.
There are some smaller issues that are also worth mentioning. The newer design does not come with the compact brush head. If you have a child under seven, you need to buy one before you can start using it. This is a bad move by Philips in our opinion and one we hope they correct soon.
The major issue with this product is the cost of the actual toothbrush itself and the replacement heads. For the expense of two heads you could buy a brand-new edition! Having said that, you get what you pay for and the quality of this electric toothbrush is second to none.
If the cost of the Sonicare babies electric toothbrush is a big expense to you then our advice is not to buy it. There are some cheaper alternatives out there, that are not as aesthetically pleasing or as effective but they are considerably better than manual toothbrushes.
However, if you have the money then this is a fantastic investment into your children’s oral health. This electric toothbrush will last them for years and help get them into good teeth cleaning habits for the future.
